"Album Minus Band": Great.
"To Leave of Die on Long Island": Fun.
“Goodbye Cool World”: Neither.
"Get Warmer" is a step back into the right direction. The signature chaotic sound is back. The lyrics and outlook of the album is just plain fun and the songs are ones that I can see myself asking to see live. All three of these things are qualities I found absent in Jeff’s previous attempt. The songs are often danceable and played live will grab every fan by the shirt and make them ask out loud at the top of their lungs “Why I got to complain about something?”

At first I shyed away from this one with memories of Goodbye Cool World in my head and briefly scrolling through this release I thought I would once again be disappointed. It wasn’t until after actually forcing myself to listen to all twelve tracks beginning to end that I was forced to remember something. BTMI’s songs rarely, if ever, start out the same way they finish. Some wonderful horn licks, classic Jeff lyrics and an occasional verse with an actual definable musical genre are all interlaced within those dozen songs. I’d recommend that you all go out and buy this album, but fuckin hey you don’t have to. Spend a few minutes go to bombthemusicindustry.com and download it yourself. Then go see them/him/ipod and you will not be disappointed.

My Favorite Tracks: “Unlimited Breadsticks, Soup and Salad Days” and “I Don’t Love You Anymore”

Bomb the Music Industry! is a musical collective led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Jeff Rosenstock. BTMI! rose out of the ashes of the Arrogant Sons of Bitches as a musical outlet for Jeff. Originally it was just him and his computer recording music, but soon many of Jeff’s friends from the “music business” began to contribute and tour with him. The band gives all its music away for free, asks for only food and gas money, and only spray paints t-shirts for free.

For Bomb the Music Industry’s fourth album, Get Warmer, they decided to record it in a real studio and with a real drummer, instead of a drum machine. DYI ska/punk label Asian Man Records soon approached the band and they agreed to release Get Warmer as a CD and Vinyl, and also for free/donation on Jeff’s label, Quote Unquote Records. The album has over 24 musical contributors.

The album starts off with once again another intense intro titled Job Schmobs. With a distorted guitar intro, building into a blast of guitar, into a full horn section build up. I can honestly say it is the best, most intense, dramatic, and anticipating introduction to an album I have ever heard. Next are 3 solid tracks all very different, but very good. Finally with track five we get ska, No Rest For the Whiny. A classic Bomb the Music Industry song, depressed ska, then it suddenly throws you into loud angry punk rock. I Don’t Love You Anymore is a catchy hit for people who don’t even like Bomb the Music Industry! The title track, Get Warmer, can only be described by one word, epic. It took me a few times, but I eventually fell in love with the song. We cannot forget all the other fun, loud, angry, depressed, and catchy ska and punk songs on the album. You will be singing Depression is No Fun and The Last Party (Foul) in your head for days!

Even though it is different from past albums, this is a solid release from Bomb the Music Industry! It has reoccurring song themes from past albums and also the additional theme of new life in Athens, Georgia. It might take a few listens for some of the songs, but they are all solid unique songs like no others.
